Welcome to simcoeisland.com

The King of France gave it to La Salle. The British conquered it in the chaos of 1758. It has had several names and many incarnations. Today it is a pleasant retreat for those who seek a place that is both remote and close to towns and cities.

Welcome to Simcoe Island. Located at the eastern end of Lake Ontario, the island is "first" among the beautiful 1000 Islands region of Ontario and New York. Serviced by ferry to Wolfe Island, Simcoe is 45 minutes from Kingston and 45 minutes from the U.S. border. We are truly in the middle of everything.

A Rural Retreat

Simcoe Island is a mix of farms and cottages, with many seasonal residents and even a handful of intrepid year round folks. The ferry stops early in the new year, and only resumes when the channel is clear of ice. A year round resident is hardy indeed!

There is a great deal more to say about this Lake Ontario wonder, but the best way to find out is to head over. The island is a bicycle paradise: flat with little traffic. The ferry is cheap, and runs on demand. Come and find us and be amazed!
